The Acting Director General of General Security, Major General Elias Al-Bisari, revealed that the General Security personnel at Beirut Airport had arrested an “Israeli” spying network that posed a threat to Lebanon, during the celebration of the seventy-eighth anniversary of its founding.

Al-Bisari said, “On its seventy-eighth birthday, public security still adheres to its security principles that cannot be tampered with.. Preserving security is a red line and confronting terrorism is a priority, while combating spying devices and dealing with the enemy is an absolute priority…”.

He added, “We stopped a network of two people at Beirut airport who had links with the enemy and were assigned to carry out internal operations. We investigated them and referred them to the competent military judiciary, and we will reveal in subsequent statements the danger of this network.”

Al-Bisari referred to the great effort made by this agency in following up the file of the Syrian displacement, and revealed that a specialized team of its members is keeping pace with the oil exploration process in Block No. 9.

Interior Minister Bassam Mawlawi praised in his speech the achievements of this advanced security apparatus in terms of security, administration and politics.

Mawlawi placed all the capabilities of his ministry at the disposal of the soldiers and officers of the General Security.
