General population census: Rose Pola Pricémou takes stock

The Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Rose Pola Pricémou presented the state of progress of the process of the general population and housing census (RGPH4), which constitutes the first among the ten points of the chronogram of the transition.

According to her, this process began in 2022 and should continue until 2025. “The following activities relating to the civil status census will effectively continue in parallel with the transition schedule. I will also present the different stages related to this process of general census of the population, the activities of the preparatory phase of which have already started and ended in December 2022”, declares Mrs. Pricémou.

The Minister also affirms that the census mapping which began with the taking of satellite photos has ended, but however the analyzes and data collection will continue from January to September 2023. The pilot census, linked to the activities of the RGPH4 will be held from February to September 2023. “All the preparatory documents have been completed. Workshops to take into account the opinions of all stakeholders were also carried out. The main count will be held in May 2024, the census survey from April to September 2024, data processing from April 2024 to April 2025, data analysis also to be held in parallel from April 2024 to April 2025, the publication of the results also, gradually throughout April 2024 to April 2025, the dissemination and display of the data also will continue until August 2025”.

The Minister of Planning and International Cooperation also mentioned the budget for the RGPH4 which would amount to 330 billion Guinean francs, or 38 million 600 thousand US dollars, of which nearly 93% covers the following phases: “the preparatory activity is around 45 billion Guinean francs, or regarding 5 million dollars, the census cartography is at 68.78 billion, or regarding 9 million dollars, the enumeration which amounts to 148 billion Guinean francs, or 17 million US dollars, or 45% of the total budget, operation and capacity building, 32 billion Guinean francs equivalent to 3 million 800 thousand US dollars, or 9.9% of the total budget. »
