LONDON – An eleventh team should be added to the Formula 1 series in 2026. The management of the prestigious series confirmed on Monday that it had reached an agreement with the American car company General Motors to support its entry.
“Formula 1 has reached an agreement in principle with General Motors (GM) to support the entry of GM/Cadillac as the eleventh team on the Formula 1 grid in 2026,” stated F1 on the official website about the planned inclusion of a new team.

In January of that year, the management of F1 did not agree to the entry of the Andretti stable into the series from 2025. At that time, the competent authorities came to the opinion that the new team would not be sufficiently competitive. Michael Andretti’s team has been applying to enter F1 for a long time, but his name no longer appears in the new project.
In connection with the involvement of General Motors as an engine manufacturer in F1, the year 2028 continues to be mentioned, by which time the Cadillac brand should use Ferrari engines, according to AFP.

Hold onto your helmets, folks! Because the Formula 1 fandom is in for a treat, and I don’t mean the questionable food from the concession stands! In what many are calling a “drive-thru” to success, General Motors has confirmed that they will join the F1 grid with Cadillac as the eleventh team in 2026. Yes, that’s right! The cars are going to get larger, and the sponsorships more obnoxious—just the way we like it!
Let’s Break Down the News!
“Formula 1 has reached an agreement in principle with General Motors (GM) to support the entry of GM/Cadillac as the eleventh team on the Formula 1 grid in 2026,” exclaimed the official F1 website. The excitement is palpable! But if you’re like me, you might have also thought, “Wait, I hope there’s enough room on the grid! What’s next? Will we have a team composed entirely of RC cars?”

Just two years prior, F1 management was less forgiving at the idea of expanding the grid. Michael Andretti’s long-cherished dream of joining had all the momentum of, well, a slow-moving tractor—not exactly the Vroom-Vroom vibes we’ve come to expect from these roaring machines. Poor Andretti… if only we could give him a lap around a go-kart track to soothe those wounds!
Who’s Driving This Dream?
The details surrounding GM’s entry are intriguing! It’s being suggested that Cadillac will eventually utilize Ferrari engines—because nothing screams “American muscle” like Italian engineering, right? One can only imagine the discussions: “What if a Ferrari tried BBQ sauce? Would it still be considered a delicacy or just a culinary nightmare?”
Does Cadillac have what it takes to shake up the paddock? Well, if their cars start with a crescendo and end with a thump, we might need some soundproof barriers! But jokes aside, the idea of these iconic brands colliding on the track certainly adds an exciting layer to the ultra-competitive landscape of Formula 1.
What Lies Ahead?
The year 2028 is already being whispered about in hushed tones, marking the time when these shiny new beasts grace the start line. One can just picture it: crowds cheering, engines roaring, and panic-stricken pit crews scrambling like it’s Black Friday sales at a department store!
And what about the spectators? Do we have enough popcorn for the drama? Just imagine the new rivalries, the sponsorships that sound like sci-fi movies, and perhaps, just perhaps, a reality TV show following these teams. “Real Housewives of Formula 1”—I’d watch that!
Finito for Now!
As we brace ourselves for this electrifying new chapter in F1, let’s keep our ears open, our engines revving, and our sense of humour intact. Who knows what the track will look like in a few years? Buckle up, everyone—this ride is bound to be filled with twists, turns, and some absolutely ludicrous moments!
Keep an eye on the race, and remember: not all heroes wear capes. Some wear racing suits and have ridiculously flashy helmets!
