Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif says that a few weeks before the 2018 election, the then Army Chief General (retd) Qamar Bajwa, General (retd) Faiz Hameed and General Naveed Mukhtar offered him to become the prime minister in a meeting.
In an interview given to Naji TV, Shahbaz Sharif said that the three officers tried to make a deal but I refused at the end of the meeting saying that Nawaz Sharif is like my leader, elder brother and father. One cannot become prime minister by stabbing in the back.
The host of the program asked that if you had not refused, Imran Khan would not have become the Prime Minister? On which the Prime Minister said that if I had not refused, Imran Khan could not have become the Prime Minister.
The Prime Minister has clarified the issue of PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s arrest and said that I have not filed a case against Imran but the law has come into action.
Shahbaz Sharif said that Imran destroyed relations with friendly countries, sold the watch he received as a gift, the former prime minister bankrupted the country and lost the trust of Pakistan.
He said that funds of billions of rupees were given by the federal government for the census, Imran Khan is doing negative politics.
On the return of party leader Nawaz Sharif, Shahbaz Sharif said that Nawaz Sharif may return in a few days or a few weeks, as soon as the doctors allow he will be in Pakistan.
The Prime Minister said that China is still supporting Pakistan, in a few days, China gave Pakistan one and a half billion dollars.
Regarding the appointment of the Army Chief, the Prime Minister explained that the appointment of the new Army Chief was done on full merit, General Asim Munir was the most senior in the list received from the General Headquarters (GHQ).
Regarding Maryam Nawaz, the Prime Minister said that Maryam Nawaz got the current position in politics with her courage, she raised her voice fearlessly for her father when he was in jail, the position she got in the party was given with my consultation.
