Years of litigation completed: The California court finally approved the terms of the settlement agreement between Riot Games and a thousand women who are unhappy with discrimination and sexism in the company.
Note that Riot Games agreed pay 100 million dollars to the victims at the end of 2021. But only now the judge approved the settlement: the subjects of the class action will divide 80 million dollars among themselves. Another 20 million will be spent on compensation for legal costs.
Riot Games will also be subject to independent oversight for three years. External consultants will review all complaints received by the company’s HR department and monitor how management responds to them.
Recall that the confrontation lasted from 2018, and the trigger was material my box regarding the order prevailing in the company’s offices. Riot Games tried to settle the case by paying $10 million, but the plaintiffs demanded 400 million.
