Geely Coolray Launches in Romania: A Competitive SUV Offering for European Drivers

Table of Contents

Geely officially enters the Romanian car market with the Coolray SUV. The Chinese manufacturer plans to bring two other models to Romania in the near future.

Chinese manufacturers are starting to make their way on the European car market, including in Romania, and Geely recently launched a new model in our country. With a competitive price, the Coolray SUV wants to steal from the customers of Renault Captur, Ford Puma and, why not, Dacia Duster, being a B-segment model.

Geely Coolray has a very aggressive design, which may not be to everyone’s taste, but it relies heavily on rich equipment at competitive prices. The Coolray comes standard with full LED headlights, 18-inch alloy wheels, 360 cameras and a power tailgate. The car does not lack space either, especially if we talk about the back seats. The boot also measures 330 litres.

How much does Geely Coolray cost in Romania?

Geely Coolray has a list price of 28,490 euros in Romania, and the difference between the two equipment available in Romania consists in the colors you can choose or the rims with which the car comes equipped.

Regardless of the equipment level, GF or GF+, Coolray benefits from full LED headlights, 360-degree cameras, 18-inch alloy wheels, but also a seven-speed automatic transmission with double clutch. The only engine available is a 1.5 turbo, on gasoline, which develops 172 HP and 290 Nm. The top trim for the Geely Coolray, the GF+, has a list price of €29,990 including VAT.

Coolray’s interior is the same regardless of version. Cars are equipped with two-tone synthetic leather upholstery, 10-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch diagonal multimedia screen. It only offers Apple CarPlay integration and only via wire, a downside if you’re using an Android phone. The cars are also equipped with a wireless phone charging pad, panoramic sunroof, electrically adjustable seats and seat heating.

Geely Coolray Hits Romania: A Cheeky Look at the New Star SUV

Well, well, well! If it isn’t Geely strutting into Romania like it owns the place! The Chinese car manufacturer has decided that Eastern Europe needs a touch of Coolray – and who are we to argue? They’ve officially rolled out their Coolray SUV, and it’s here to shake things up. Rumor has it they’ve got their sights set on stealing customers from the likes of Renault Captur, Ford Puma, and even our beloved Dacia Duster. I mean, let’s be honest, if there’s one thing Romania excels at, it’s offering competition in the auto market. Just ask the cabbage sellers on any street corner!

A Design That Says ‘Look at me!’ (or ‘What Were They Thinking?’)

Now, let’s talk design. The Coolray SUV might just win the award for most aggressive design this side of a wrestling ring. It’s sharp! It’s bold! It’s… well, let’s just say it relies on “rich equipment at competitive prices.” You know, the kind of equipment that might distract from the overall aesthetic if you’re looking for something a bit more understated. It’s definitely not a wallflower, folks. This SUV may have a look that divides opinion quicker than a family argument about whether pineapple belongs on pizza!

But hey, it’s got all the bells and whistles to go with that intimidating front end! Full LED headlights, 18-inch alloy wheels, and a 360-degree camera to help you park that beast of a car in the most unrealistic of spaces—like the gap between my cooking skills and my wife’s expectations. And let’s not forget about its spacious back seats and a boot that measures 330 liters—ideal for stashing away all those “what was I thinking” impulse purchases from the local market.

How Much Are You Gonna Fork Out?

Now let’s get down to brass tacks: money. The Coolray has parked itself at a starting price of €28,490 here in Romania. And for that, you get your choice of colors and rims, because, let’s face it, who wouldn’t want to customize their aggressive vehicle to match their personality? And worry not—whether you choose the GF or GF+ trim, you’ll be riding high with all the gadgets you could wish for.

Both trims come with a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine, pumping out a respectable 172 horsepower and engulfing 290 Nm of torque. It’s like a latte with an extra shot; strong and ready to wake you up from the drudgery of daily life. The GF+ trim, the crème de la crème, will set you back €29,990 all-in, which, when you think about it, is just a fraction of what people pay for the privilege of parking a fancy badge in front of their houses!

What’s Inside the Coolray?

Slide inside, and it’s a different ballgame. The interior is decked out in two-tone synthetic leather upholstery that screams—“I’m fancy, but I won’t judge you for skipping the real leather!” You’ve got a 10-inch digital instrument cluster that looks like it came straight from a sci-fi movie, complemented by a 12.3-inch multimedia screen. However, a word of caution: if you roll with an Android phone, you might find yourself in a pickle because the Coolray only offers Apple CarPlay integration via a wire. A bit of a drawback, I know—like realizing your favorite snack is just out of reach when you’re on a diet!

And just when you think they’ve skimped on features, they throw in a wireless phone charging pad, panoramic sunroof, electrically adjustable seats, and the ability to seat heat, because who doesn’t want a toasty bum during those chilly Romanian winters? It’s like being wrapped in a cozy blanket while driving—except without the weird shapes when inviting your friends to hop in!

Conclusion: A New Contender is Here!

In conclusion, the Geely Coolray is not just another SUV on the block. It’s a statement—bold, brash, and unapologetically out to claim its share of the Romanian car market. With aggressive pricing, a whole lot of tech, and a design that could turn heads (or cause a double-take), it’s worth keeping an eye on this rising star. Now let’s see if it can deliver all the performance it promises without covering itself in shame quicker than a bad date!

So buckle up, folks! Romania’s auto scene just got a bit spicier, and you’ll want to be in the front seat as the Coolray zooms ahead. Or, at the very least, you can sit in back and enjoy the ride with a bag of the finest Romanian pretzels. Cheers to that!

You’ll find that the Geely⁢ Coolray doesn’t skimp on comfort or tech.
