The worlds of Mario Bros, Lara Croft and even Minecraft will take up residence in La Chaux-de-Fonds. Starting Thursday, the watchmaking metropolis will host the second edition of “2300 Pixels”, until Friday. These are two fun days aimed at exploring the world of video games and geek culture. The event is organized by the City’s socio-cultural activities sector. On the program, the public will be able to discover a variety of consoles ranging from the 80s to today, participate in a coding workshop to create their own video game or even take part in an introduction to streaming. “This project is based on the observation that there are few leisure offers intended for the general public during the holidays. The themes were chosen because they are broad and interest a wide audience,” explains Christian Pham Thai, socio-cultural facilitator at the City of La Chaux-de-Fonds and responsible for the “2300 Pixels” project.
Changes
This is the second time that the world of video games and geek culture has taken up residence in La Chaux-de-Fonds. Last year, the event was in a testing phase. In 2024, there are therefore changes that have been made. “We have diversified the activities that we present to the public. We have also become more professional in the choice of consoles that we will present, to satisfy as many people as possible,” explains Christian Pham Thai.
Quantified objective
In 2023, nearly 100 people per day went to the Youth Service, located at Rue de la Serre 12 in La Chaux-de-Fonds, to take part in the demonstration. For this second edition of “2300 Pixels”, the organizers hope to increase this figure and are aiming for nearly 160 people per day “to maintain a friendly atmosphere”. /dpi
