Geagea to Asharq Al-Awsat: Arabs do not care about Qassem Soleimani’s Lebanon

Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati hoped to “Asharq Al-Awsat” that the “page of rift” in Lebanese-Arab relations, specifically the Gulf, would be turned over, in order to activate cooperation in a way that would help Lebanon to alleviate the suffering of the Lebanese, while the head of the Lebanese Forces Party Samir Geagea affirmed that the defeat of “Hezbollah” God” and the “Free Patriotic Movement” in the parliamentary elections scheduled for mid-May will lead to a thaw in Lebanese-Gulf relations “because the Arabs do not care regarding Lebanon, Qassem Soleimani,” the general in the Iranian “Revolutionary Guard” who was killed in an American raid in Iraq regarding two years.

President Mikati confirmed to Asharq Al-Awsat that the Lebanese government is open to the Arab and international Gulf paper that the Kuwaiti Foreign Minister brought with him to Beirut, and it deals with it positively and expresses its satisfaction with the initiative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to establish a financial fund to provide support to non-official health, educational and humanitarian institutions that handle Its interest in the Lebanese with needs in this regard, in light of the state’s inability to secure them due to the deteriorating financial and economic situation.

For his part, Geagea said in an interview with Asharq Al-Awsat that the next “enemy” in the elections is the “solid core” of the ruling system, which in the last ten years is Hezbollah and the “Free Patriotic Movement”, stressing that this system “will collapse, The elections result in a new majority.

He made it clear that he would not accept “the (soup and blended) governments they call the national unity governments.” We want a clearly defined government that has a very clear and coherent policy. A government of actual specialists, not advisory specialists.”

Geagea considered that Lebanon’s exit from its Arab isolation “is part of the crisis; As soon as the power is transferred from a hand that does not have any confidence and is considered an opponent, an enemy and a corrupt one, to a hand that is considered Lebanese and white and wants to live, in a few minutes, the Gulf states will reconsider their position on Lebanon.”
