Geagea accuses Hezbollah of obstructing the election of a president

The head of the Lebanese Forces Party, Samir Geagea, considered that Lebanon needs a “rescue president” in every sense of the word and is not on Hezbollah’s scale, noting that “the opposition team represented by Hezbollah and its allies is determined to obstruct the election of a new president because of its internal problems.”

In an interview with Al-Hadath channel, Geagea said that “it is in Hezbollah’s interest to have a president similar to President Michel Aoun.” He added, “The latter was doing whatever Hezbollah wanted, and now they are seeking to form a government to prepare to fill the presidential vacancy.”

Geagea pointed out that Representative Michel Moawad is not the candidate of the Forces, but rather the opposition candidate in the House of Representatives. He said, “Moawad practically has more than 50 votes, and he has all the characteristics of a president, and if Hezbollah is serious regarding the presidential file, let us agree on Michel Moawad.”

Regarding the maritime border demarcation file, Geagea said, “With regard to this file, this is the first and only time that Hezbollah acts logically, considering that there is an agreement in which Lebanon’s interest lies, and for this reason it turned a blind eye.”

On the other hand, Geagea considered that “the current crisis revealed the role of Hezbollah in the collapse of the situation in Lebanon,” pointing out that “the party is behind the crises that Lebanon has reached,” and said, “Hezbollah lives on the concept of the absence of a state.”
