GE Additive gets new CEO: Alexander Schmitz

Alexander Schmitz will become GE Additive’s new CEO in mid-January. The mechanical engineer will manage GE’s AM business from his location in Munich.

Alexander Schmitz brings extensive experience leading operations, product development, manufacturing and leading global teams. He was most recently CEO of FlexLink (a Swedish manufacturer of conveyor systems). After his studies at RWTH Aachen, he held managerial and technical positions during a 20-year career at Bosch.

Strategic part of GE Aerospace

GE Additive will become part of GE Aerospace under GE’s new structure as one of four independent companies. Schmitz reports directly to GE Aerospace CEO Riccardo Procacci. The four companies within this division are GE Additive, Avio Aero, Dowty Propellers and Unison Industries. Procacci says GE Additive is a strategic activity within the group.
