China’s gross domestic product (GDP) got off to a strong start in the first quarter of 2022, despite challenges posed by an increasingly complex international environment and resurgences of COVID-19 cases in the country.
The country’s GDP grew 4.8% year on year in the first quarter of 2022, compared to 4% growth in the fourth quarter last year, data released by the Bureau of Statistics showed on Monday. State of statistics (BES).
The economy showed stable performance with continued recovery as China balanced epidemic control with economic and social development, BES spokesperson Fu Linghui said at a press briefing. .
