During the ceremony in front of the gate of the Gdańsk Shipyard, Danuta Wałęsa, among others, took the floor. – I hope that next year – during the 45th anniversary – there will be many more of us here. I would like to wish that the “other side”, which went further, would also be with us – said the wife of the former president. These words of the former oppositionist caused great applause from the people of Gdańsk gathered in front of the shipyard.

Danuta Wałęsa also decided to use the opportunity and make a direct appeal to the current Polish authorities. – I have such a reflection after all this, after the election of the new government, that we have justice, as it were, and we will continue to fight for this right – she said. – I encourage you not to rest on your laurels.but let us fight together for a better tomorrow for all of us. For children and grandchildren – she added.

Kosiniak-Kamysz in Gdańsk: Freedom without solidarity will not defend itself

Aleksandra Dulkiewicz she emphasized that “in Gdańsk, in Pomerania, in Poland, a revolution took place, a victory, peaceful, giving hope, sincere and pure”. – It is a great lesson of solidarity, free from personal interests, friendly and constructive. We still draw too little from this source – she said.

On the other hand Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz he recalled that “the symbols of the events of August 1980 are extremely important.” – Freedom without solidarity, without social cooperation, will not defend itself.. After almost 45 years since these events, everything requires serious consideration once again: what to do to rebuild the national community, because it is the only guarantor of freedom and security – he wondered.

– How to ensure this in such dynamically changing times, where emotions prevail, where one slogan can destroy agreements, how to arrange everything de facto anew. Let us take the example from here, from Gdańsk, from the shipyard, from under these crosses that commemorate martyrdom for freedom – he added.
