GCC Health Ministers' Committee and GCC-Yemen Council of Health Ministers: Promoting Cooperation and Advancing Healthcare

Muscat > The ninth meeting of the GCC Health Ministers’ Committee and the 86th General Conference of the GCC-Yemen Council of Health Ministers began in Oman. The Minister of Health Dr. Hilal Ali Al Sabti welcomed the delegates. He said the conference is part of the GCC countries’ efforts to promote cooperation in the health sector. With the advancement of technologies like artificial intelligence and internet of things, discussions on joint activities to improve and develop healthcare services to better standards will also be held as part of the conference. Dr. Al Sabti added. The health minister said the conference will also discuss the importance of developing telemedicine clinics and other specialties in various hospitals in the GCC countries. GCC Secretary General Jasem Mohammed Al Budawi, who participated in the conference, said that efforts will continue to achieve universal health coverage, ensuring healthy lives and well-being for all. The Ninth Session of the GCC Committee of Health Ministers approved the official agenda of the meeting and approved the draft resolutions submitted by the Committee headed by the Health Undersecretaries. The meeting reviewed the Saudi Ministry of Health’s proposal to recognize March 2 every year as World Health Martyrs’ Day. The conference discussed Oman’s proposal to further strengthen mutual cooperation between the Gulf countries in the field of health and to open specialized health centers within the Gulf countries to provide expert treatments at low cost. Such specialized centers include corneal transplantation, retinal treatment, cochlear implantation, organ transplantation, transplantation, joint replacement centers, cancer centers, diagnostic and therapeutic intervention centers (interventional medicine), brain and heart disease centers.
