THE public prosecutor (JPU) at the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) presented former Judicial Judge Prasetyo Nugroho in the trial of alleged gratification and money laundering of inactive Supreme Court Justice Gazalba Saleh. He was asked to explain the process of handling the cassation case that ensnared Jawahirul Fuad.
Prasetyo was asked to explain the existence of the cassation order. According to him, Gazalba used paper in the request.
“It’s a scribbled paper, to grant (the cassation case), Mr Prosecutor,” said Prasetyo at the Corruption Court at the Central Jakarta District Court, Thursday (18/7).
Prasetyo did not detail the contents of the paper given by Gazalba. According to him, the reason for acceptance is related to someone’s confusion.
“As far as I remember, it was an error in persona, Mr Prosecutor,” said Prasetyo.
The decision to accept meant that Jawahirul was free from his case at the cassation level. After that, Prasetyo admitted to making files for the trial’s needs.

“I made it following the reading file arrived, then I saw the cassation memorandum, I saw the facts, I saw that there was witness testimony that said that the UD did not belong to the convict, so just make a consideration like that, Mr. Prosecutor,” said Prasetyo.
Gazalba Saleh is back on trial for his gratification and money laundering case at the Supreme Court (MA) following his acquittal was overturned by the Jakarta High Court (PT). In this trial, the composition of the panel of judges leading the trial is still the same as the judge who accepted Gazalba Saleh’s exception or objection note.
The panel of judges consists of chief judge Fahzal Hendri. Then, the judges are Rianto Adam Pontoh and Sukartono.
“We are reopening the trial of this case, based on an order from the Jakarta High Court. Because yesterday’s exception, yesterday’s interim decision was canceled. Because it was canceled, the panel of judges was then ordered to continue examining the main case,” said Fahzal at the Corruption Crime Court (Tipikor), Central Jakarta, Tuesday, July 8, 2024.
Fahzal said Gazalba Saleh’s detention period was once more carried out in a bribery case in the MA environment. His detention period was calculated for 57 days. (Z-8)
