Agence France-Presse quoted the Ministry of Health in Gaza as confirming that more than 8,000 people have been killed in the Gaza Strip since the outbreak of war on October 7.
The ministry stressed that “the death toll as a result of the Israeli aggression exceeded 8,000, half of whom were children.” The latest toll from the ongoing Israeli bombing of the Gaza Strip amounted to 7,703 deaths, according to the ministry.
Earlier, the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross, Mirjana Spolijaric, appealed to the world to take action to stop the “unbearable level of human suffering” in the Gaza Strip.
Spoliatric continued: “This is a catastrophic failure that the world must not tolerate,” at a time when Israel announced that its war on Gaza had “entered a new phase” and intensified its bombing of the Strip.
