“Gaza Metro” opens the Arab Theater Festival in Baghdad

Today, Wednesday, the activities of the 14th session of the Arab Theater Festival in Baghdad will begin with the play: “Gaza Metro,” by the Frenchman Hervé Anchuel, directed by a Palestinian team, out of 20 plays included in the competition list in a demonstration that will continue until January 18 of this year.

The opening ceremony of the 14th session of the Arab Theater Festival in Baghdad, which opens today with a performance presented by 86 artists entitled: Shrines of Love and Peace. Then the artist Nidal Al-Ashqar delivers the message of the Arab Theater Day entitled: Theater is a life that precedes life. Then 23 Iraqi artists are honored.

Gaza Metro Show The Palestinian artist Muhammad Abu Sal previously presented this multimedia installation work 10 years ago, proposing solutions for transportation movement in the Gaza Strip, which is what French director Hervé Anchuel relied on in his new play, which he wrote with the participation of Khawla Ibrahim, in cooperation with Palestinian artists: Shaden Selim, Ahmed Al-Toubasi, and Yasmine Shalalda.

The duration of the show is 65 minutes. It deals with the practices of the Israeli occupation, settler attacks and the dreams of Palestinians. In this context, a symposium will be held on the first day of the festival entitled: Theater and Cultural Resistance in Palestine.
