“We are deeply saddened by the loss of Colonel Vaibhav Kale, who was working for the security of the United Nations,” the Indian delegation to the United Nations in New York confirmed.
“We send our sincerest condolences to his family at this difficult time,” he added.
This is the first death of a foreign UN worker in the Palestinian territories since the war began on October 7.
According to the UN, another member of the UNDSS was injured by this fire and the vehicle was damaged while these two people were being taken to the European hospital in Rafah.
