The death toll in the Gaza Strip as a result of Israeli war operations stood at 40,786 on Monday, with 94,224 wounded, most of whom were women and children, after nearly eleven months of war.

“The Israeli occupation has committed three massacres against families in the Gaza Strip, causing 48 martyrs and 70 wounded during the past 24 hours,” the Palestinian Ministry of Health, part of the Hamas government, reported.

At least three Palestinians were killed and an unknown number wounded early Wednesday when Israeli forces shelled a vehicle outside a clinic in the Remal neighbourhood in northern Gaza City.

Local sources reported that four other citizens were killed in a fighter jet bombing of a house in the Bureij camp in the centre of the Strip, an area that has been heavily hit in recent days.

Bombings

In addition, according to the Palestinian news agency Wafa, bombings against residential buildings in the Sabra neighborhood, also in Gaza City, were constant, while others were demolished with explosives near the university, in the Tal al Hawa neighborhood, southwest of Gaza City.

The attacks come as a polio vaccination campaign in Gaza is continuing for a second day and will last until next week, accompanied by humanitarian pauses in fighting in the areas where the doses are being administered.

Children in central Gaza will be eligible for vaccination on Monday, while some 87,000 children received their first dose on Sunday, according to UNRWA figures.

“Efforts continue to provide children with this critical vaccine, but what they need most is an immediate ceasefire,” the UN agency for Palestinian refugees demanded.
