Mario Gavranovic has retired from top football. The 33-year-old was recently without a club. His last stop was Kayserispor in Turkey. The Ticino native with Croatian roots played 41 games for Switzerland (16 goals).
Mario Gavranovic quits at the age of 33 RSI his career. The Swiss was most recently under contract with Kayserispor in Turkey. However, this was not extended.
The Ticino native started his career at FC Lugano before playing for Xamax. The striker made the move abroad when he was just 20 years old. In the Bundesliga he played for Schalke and Mainz before signing with FC Zurich. He won the cup with FCZ in 2014 and 2016. Before his trip to Turkey, Gavranovic played in Croatia, his parents’ homeland, for Rijeka and Dinamo Zagreb (a total of 6 championship titles).
Immortal thanks to the goal once morest France
He resigned from the national team in autumn 2022. His goal rate in the national team is impressive: he scored 16 goals in 41 games. The 3-3 equalizer in the European Championship round of 16 once morest France in the summer of 2021 is unforgettable. He also scored at the start of the penalty shootout, which Switzerland won.
