BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) – North Dakota’s Gateway to Science has been in its new location for one year.
It has been 30 years since it was started as the region’s first hands-on science center.
After being located in many shared spaces, the executive director says they’ve always dreamed of a space like this.
Over 100,000 guests have come through the doors since the opening.
In 2024 more programs are being expanded and added.
Memberships in the new space went from under 700 to over 3,200.
“We try to make sure STEM, Science, Technology, Engineering, and math are represented in everything that we do. So that’s it intentional and the learning is there and its a little bit subtle and it’s for the youngest learners all the way through to adult,” said Beth Demke, executive director.
Demke says the next big thing for Gateway to Science is expanding its classroom space into a new outdoor classroom.
