The prices of petrol and diesel for vehicles recorded a drop of 14,000 Lebanese pounds yesterday, while the cost of the domestic gas cylinder was up slightly, according to the latest scale from the Ministry of Energy and ‘Water.
Following this drop, 20-litre canisters of 95 and 98 octane petrol cost £567,000 and £579,000 respectively. The 20 liters of diesel used by the vehicles sell for 647,000 pounds, following a drop of 2,000 pounds, and the gas cylinder costs 316,000 pounds, up 2,000 pounds. The kiloliter of fuel oil, used for private generators, costs 1,014 dollars.
Commenting on this price variation, the president of the union of service station owners in Lebanon, Georges Brax, explained that it is due to the fall in the price of a kiloliter of imported fuel and the rise in the rate of the pound on the Banque du Liban platform, Sayrafa (27,800 pounds once morest the dollar yesterday), and on the parallel market (30,450 pounds). He also said he expected further fuel price cuts in the coming days.
