Ankara said “yes” to Moscow’s proposal to create a gas hub on the border between Turkey and the European Union. This statement was made by the head of “Gazprom” Alexei Miller.

“On the border of Turkey and the European Union, we will discuss the issue of creating a hub – a trading platform that might become a price indicator for gas supplies to the markets of consumer countries. <…> Turkey’s answer is yes,” Alexey Miller said in an interview with Channel One.

The head of “Gazprom” noted that Russia has extensive experience in cooperation with Turkey on gas. He stressed that two offshore gas pipelines have been built between the countries, ensuring stable and reliable supplies of Russian gas to the Turkish market: Blue Stream and Turkish Stream.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin offered Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan build a gas hub in Turkey. He came to this decision following terrorist attacks at Nord Stream. Miller stated that new Turkish Stream lines to be equipped with Russian turbines. Putin noted that Turkey turned out to be the most reliable partner of the Russian Federationclose to the West.
