Gas prices in Florida are below $4 a gallon: it is the lowest since March

Floridians can now breathe a little easier when it comes to filling up as gas prices have fallen, on average, 17 cents per gallonreflecting a downward trend that has been recorded in the last seven weeks.

According to the Automobile Association of America (AAA), the state average is now down, on average, 96 cents overall and it’s back below $4 a gallon, something not seen since March 6.

On Sunday, the state average of regular unleaded gasoline was $3.93 per gallonthe lowest daily average price since March 5.

The AAA report also points out that now a fill a tank of gasoline costs regarding $14 less than when gasoline prices peaked in mid-June. That is, a 15-gallon tank of gas would now cost regarding $59.

“After paying almost $5 a gallon just a couple of months ago, Florida drivers are likely to breathe a sigh of relief to see gas prices drop below $4 a gallon,” said AAA spokesman Mark Jenkins. However, the association does not dare to predict how long these prices might remain below $4. “Oil and gas prices posted notable gains last week and this might potentially cause the price decline to stabilize or increase, but it’s too early to tell,” he said.
