Simplified home loan for former cancer patients

More justice for people cured of cancer for several years and who had to face many difficulties to take out a mortgage.

From Wednesday, the law changes and now allows former cancer or hepatitis C patients to obtain credit on the same terms as another borrower. However, this measure only applies from five years following their recovery. This was already the case for people treated for cancer before the age of 21.

Previously, this “right to be forgotten”, included in the framework of the AERAS agreement (Insuring and Borrowing with an Aggravated Health Risk), was for 10 years. A measure taken to avoid a tendency to premiums or even a loan refusal. The law of February 28, 2022 also plans to abolish the medical questionnaire for loans of less than 200,000 euros.

Terminate your borrower insurance “at any time”

It will be possible, from tomorrow, to terminate your borrower insurance “at any time” for all loans taken out from June 1. For those whose contracts are already in progress, this will be possible from 1is September 2022.

Before that, the borrower’s insurance might only be terminated in the first 12 months following the subscription of the mortgage. After a year, this was only possible on the anniversary date of the contract. The borrower is then free to take out a new contract with any insurance company.

Insurers will be, from 1is June, required to inform borrowers each year of this right and its terms.

Simplify the right to a bank account

The right to access a bank account is also now simplified. Thus, a person who asks to open a bank account and who does not receive an answer within 15 days of his request can turn to the Banque de France. The latter will automatically designate an establishment close to the applicant’s domicile.

“This procedure is open to anyone residing in France or in a Member State of the European Union, to any Frenchman residing abroad and also to applicants who are prohibited from banking”, explains Service-public.fr.

Better compare the costs of life and PER insurance

The costs of life insurance and PER (Retirement Savings Plan) will become clearer thanks to a measure taken at the initiative of Bruno Le Maire. This obliges insurers and banking establishments to display on their website a summary table of the management fees applied to each life insurance or PER.

Improved consumer protection on the internet

The information that a professional must communicate to a customer in the context of distance selling is reinforced from June 1, 2022, notes the specialized site Magnolia.fr. Traffic ban for polluting vehicles in Greater Paris

From June, vehicles with a Crit’Air 4 sticker will no longer be able to drive in the low emission zones of Greater Paris, in addition to Paris intra muros. From 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., diesel cars built before 2006, and those with gasoline engines before 1997, will no longer be able to drive on weekdays. This prohibition remains valid every day for trucks and buses. A fine of 68 euros may be applied.
