The post-covid economic recovery and war in Ukraine have sent inflation and energy prices soaring to new highs. L’Écho monitors the evolution of energy prices day following day.
gas prices
The Dutch futures contract (Dutch TTF Gas Futures), the reference in Europe, went from 72.08 euros/MWh on January 3, 2022, to 219 euros on September 06, 2022.
The Creg (Electricity and Gas Regulation Commission) has established that the average annual gas bill for residential customers would be 2.380,52 euros for gas contracts taken out in July 2022 (for an average consumption of 23,660 KWh).
Gas stocks
To compensate for a possible shortage this winter, Belgium is supplying its gas stocks. These are currently 90.32% filled, i.e. 7.8585 TWh out of the 9 TWh available. At their maximum capacity, gas stocks can cover 3,94% of the country’s annual consumption.
Electricity price
At present, the price per MWh “day-ahead” of electricity is 439,77 euros, according to data from the ENTSOE (European association for the cooperation of transmission system operators for electricity). He was from 85,67 euros/MWh on January 1, 2022.
The Creg argues that the average annual electricity bill for residential customers would be 1.548,09 euros for electricity contracts taken out in July 2022 (for an average consumption of 3,500 KWh.)
Gasoline prices (SP 95-E10)
According to Statbel, the price at the pump of Lead Free 95-E10 is currently 1,715 euro per litre, i.e. almost the level at the start of the year (1.71 euro/L on 01/01/2022).
Prix du diesel
Unlike gasoline, the price of diesel continues to rise 2,068 euros per liter as of August 31. It was 1.733 euro/L on January 1, 2022.
Oil price
The price of oil (heating diesel < 2,000 litres) has almost doubled since the start of the year, going from 0.78 euro/L on January 1, 2022 to 1.29 euro/L currently.
