Cut by the Pelicans a few weeks ago, Garrett Temple does not yet want to retire. The 37-year-old fullback has signed a one-year contract with the Toronto Raptors.
We tend to see him less and less on the court, but Garrett Temple is still in the NBA. After two seasons with the Pelicans, the veteran saw the Bayou franchise not guarantee his contract for next season. It must be said that 5 million dollars for a 37-year-old player who fell off the bench (25 games played last season for 6 minutes of average playing time) is a bit expensive. Released by the Pels, Temple still found a buyer on the market since Adrian WojnarowskiESPN announces tonight that the Raptors have signed him for one year and $3.2 million.
Free agent F Garrett Temple has agreed on a one-year, $3.2M deal with the Toronto Raptors, Mark Bartelstein of @PrioritySports tells ESPN. Temple — who spent the past two years with the Pelicans — will be playing his 14th NBA season.

On the Toronto side, Temple will come to fill the bench of the Dinos. Not sure we’ll see him a lot on the field, but at least young people like Scottie Barnes will be able to benefit from the advice of an experienced and pro player who has been around in the NBA (Toronto will be his… twelfth career franchise).
While we were waiting for a possible summer reconstruction with the departure of Nick Nurse and Fred VanVleet, the Raptors have for the moment retained the majority of their executives despite incessant transfer rumors (Siakam, Anunoby in particular). A situation that challenges when the two players can test the market in a year. Between stability and renewal, Masai Ujiri seems to have trouble deciding. Unless of course he’s just waiting for the right price to give in.
