Asuncion, IP Agency.- Paraguayan national team coach Daniel Garnero regretted yesterday’s defeat against Brazil, which leaves Paraguay without a chance of making it to the next round: “Today we are not at our best, there is no doubt about that and the responsibility for the Copa América is entirely mine.”
He began his post-match press conference by acknowledging that the 4-1 result against “is terrible.”
“Until the 40th minute it was an even game and within three minutes we lost focus and unfortunately they scored two goals against us which made a huge difference in the result,” he said.
“We are playing against two of the best teams, not only in South America, but in the world,” he added.
He also pointed out that the Paraguayan team has players of a level “much higher” than the results presented in this Copa America. He also regretted that the goals were not scored first, which could have given the team more confidence in the matches where Paraguay fell 2-1 to Colombia and 4-1 to Brazil.
“When things don’t work out, they don’t work out, and today we are going through a very difficult time,” he added.
