Garmin releases Instinct 2 – dezl, a watch designed for the trucker

The Garmin watch manufacturer has just released a watch for truckers. Yes, yes, you read that right: for truckers. Finally, truckers who are in shape or looking to live a healthy life. It’s this lifestyle that Garmin is specifically looking to tap into with the new Instinct 2 – dezl Edition.

Let’s see what it’s all regarding.

Always on the road, the long-haul driver leads a life with atypical schedules. In this context of constant travel, Garmin has understood that the health-conscious trucker needs diverse, precise and quantifiable data in order to properly monitor his physical condition. So he programmed this watch according to his particular prerogatives and contingencies.

First, there are several standard functions for all athletes found in this watch: heart rate, quantity and quality of sleep, steps taken daily, calories burned, hydration, daily monitoring of efforts, a GPS, etc.

Adapted functions

Then there are more specific features for the trucker: female health tracking, wrist heart rate monitor, 24/7 breathing rate, pulse oximeter, relaxation timer, abnormal heart rate alerts, daily effort tracking and daily resting heart rate.

For pure athletes, the company has provided, via the dezl application, detailed training tutorials that the trucker can view and apply during his health breaks.

“The sedentary nature of the trucker on long trips can be physically demanding and this watch will promote healthy practices as truckers perform their daily vital job functions,” said Dan Bartel, Vice President of Global Consumer Sales at Garmin in a press release sent to the media.

In addition to its autonomy, which is 28 days in “smartwatch” mode, the watch offers access to one of Garmin’s dezl OTR series truck navigators. A feature that allows the driver to properly plan and define his breaks, but also to improve his well-being through appropriate proposals.

And then there is the possibility of making contactless payments during stops at rest stops and at gas stations.
