RIVA. Garda Trentino is ready to start another great MTB season: final preparations e from Friday 28 April to Monday 1 May Riva del Garda will re-propose itself as the undisputed capital of mountain biking with the 29th edition of the FSA Bike Festivalthe flagship event for MTB lovers, organized by the German publishing house Delius Klasing in collaboration with Garda Dolomiti Azienda per il Turismo SpA
The event was presented today, Wednesday 26 April, in Trento at the Trentino Marketing headquarters, in the presence of the Councilor for Sport and Tourism of the Autonomous Province of Trento Roberto Failoni, the Managing Director of Trentino Marketing Maurizio Rossini, the President of Garda Dolomites Tourism Company SpA Silvio Rigatti and the Director of Garda Dolomites Tourism Company SpA Oskar Schwazer.
Looking forward to celebrating thirty years in 2024, the Bike Festival already this year “thinks big”: in fact, the exhibition area will exceed 25,000 m2 occupying, in addition to the former Cattoi area in viale Rovereto, also the Parco dell’Ora and the Miralago area. More than 200 exhibitors will be welcomed here who will present the new products of more than 350 brands in the bike sector and who will give the over 60,000 expected visitors the opportunity to test more than 1,000 mtb and e-mtb for free.
Furthermore, with the addition of a day to the event, the organization has foreseen interesting news also with regard to the competitions, which are expected regarding 2,000 participants from more than 25 countries. In addition to the “classic” races such as the Scott BIKE Marathon, the Bosch eMTB Challenge supported by Trek and the Junior Trophy for the little ones, the Specialized Lake Bash and the FUNduro will further enrich the event programme. While the first concerns a Gravel challenge that can be tackled by the participants both as a race and as a simple tour to admire the surrounding beauties of the area, the second will be an enduro stage route in a new guise, with in the foreground – as suggested by the name – the fun in the saddle. In addition to the competitions, there will also be space to discover the surrounding area on two wheels thanks to organized guided tours, as well as exciting activities within the expo area including numerous side events, sport shows and interesting initiatives at the exhibitors’ stands.
At the Garda Dolomiti Tourist Board, every day it will be possible to taste the Impavida Beer, the amount of which will be invested in the maintenance of local trails with “Beer for a better ride”, or test one’s balance skills and win original gadgets during the cocktail hour (at 12:00 and 17:30) with “Contest Bike Balance”. Saturday 29 April instead it will be the turn of the ride together with the Garda Trentino ambassador Eleonora Farina at the Pietramurata Trail Center (from 14:30 to 17:00, register here), finally on Sunday 30 April, at 14:30, once more with the bike ambassador Eleonora Farina, it will be held at the “Girls ride better” stand, where the testimonial will provide useful advice and suggestions to improve performance in the saddle.
THE PROGRAM OF THE 2023 BIKE FESTIVAL
The inauguration on Friday 28 April at 12:00 will kick off the 29th edition of the Bike Festival in Riva del Garda. The expo area, as always with free access, will be open on Friday 28 April from 11:00 to 19:00, Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 April from 10:00 to 19:00, and Monday 1 May from 10:00 to 4:00 pm.
Friday 28th April at 1.30 pm the FUNduro will be held at the Bike Festival with a route full of fun that leads to Monte Altissimo and which includes three stages. At the end of the trials, the most skilled bikers will receive a special prize.
Saturday 29th April at 7:30 the Scott BIKE Marathon will start from Riva del Garda: one of the most anticipated events of the weekend will once once more offer three splendid routes (Ronda Piccola, 30.67 kilometers and 1,065 meters in altitude; Ronda Grande, 59, 56 kilometers and 2,406 meters in altitude, Ronda Extrema, 82.77 kilometers and 3,484 meters in altitude) and breathtaking scenery on Lake Garda.
At the end of the day on Saturday, from 19:00 to 22:00, the Bike Festival Open Night will take place, in which the exhibition village will be transformed into an open-air party, with music and fun, followed by the Bike Festival Party, at the Spiaggia degli Olivi.
Sunday 30th April from 8:30 to 9:30 it will be time for this year’s big news, the Specialized Lake Bash, the Gravel challenge starting directly from the shores of Lake Garda. Along the 100 km route (or 65 for the short ring) there will be three timed fractions, while the remaining development will not count towards the ranking, thus allowing participants to pedal together, chat and admire the surrounding nature. Local specialties will also be served at the refreshment points, thus combining competition and local food and wine.
Also on Sunday at 10:00 it will be the turn of the Bosch eMTB Challenge supported by Trek, a challenge that combines elements of Enduro, Downhill and Orienteering, specially dedicated to pedal assisted bikes. For this competition, a division into two categories (advanced and amateur) is made, and all participants in the advanced one will have to complete an additional phase which requires more technique and riding competence and is therefore suitable for experienced cyclists.
In the end, Monday 1st Mayspace for little bikers with the Junior Trophy at 10:30 (for athletes born between 2020 and 2015) and at 12:30 (for those born between 2014 and 2009) who will be able to live an incredible experience, breathing the race air like the older ones.
