The first fall session of the House of Representatives was opened with tension: “Garbala” was performed by the minister and the speaker of the session.

In this context, the oral question session held by the House of Representatives was halted after noon on Monday, following tension between the session’s president, Idriss Al-Shatibi, from the Socialist team, and the Minister Delegate in charge of relations with Parliament, the official spokesman for the government, Mustafa Paytas.

The opening session was known as “Garbala” when Al-Shatibi refused Paytas’s request to rearrange the questions addressed to the ministers, which aroused the ire of the representatives supporting the government majority, and opened the door to a series of parliamentary interventions that significantly delayed the start of the session.

At the beginning of the session, and after reading an official correspondence from Minister Paytas, Al-Shatibi expressed his categorical refusal to rearrange the ministerial questions, indicating that he would not accept what he described as an “imbalance of power,” stressing that he would remain committed to his position even if he was alone.

This position angered Paytas, who demanded that the government be informed in advance if such requests were rejected, asking why the government was denied the right to rearrange questions if some ministers were unable to attend. But the session chairman interrupted him and cut off the microphone, considering that the request to rearrange ministerial questions was no longer an exception, but rather a rule.

Amidst these quarrels, MP Abderrahim Bouazza, from the Authenticity and Modernity Party, intervened and directly accused Chtaybi of obstructing all the sessions he chaired. These tensions disrupted the start of the session for a long period, hindering the discussion of anticipated oral questions.
