GarageBand co-creator leaves Apple after 21 years

After two long decades, Apple’s Director of Product Marketing for Professional Applications, Xander Soren, is no longer part of the company’s team. The executive, as noted by the 9to5Macheld various positions within Maçã and is one of the main people responsible for creating the famous GarageBand.

According to his LinkedIn profile, Soren no longer works for Apple since November last year and is now focused on launching his own wine brand – something that should happen later this year. Apparently, he doesn’t seem to be interested in returning to the world of technology.

The executive joined Apple in 2001 and, since then, has worked on products such as the iPod, iTunes, Logic Pro, the Recorder application and the iLife suite. He was also responsible for some of the ringtones that came with the original iPhone, released in 2007.

The executive even won a farewell video produced by his colleagues at Apple. The homage lasts regarding seven minutes and includes testimonials from other executives and even some artists.

Soren has appeared in a few Apple keynotes since joining the company. In 2010, he shared the stage with then-CEOChief executive officeror executive director.”>1 Steve Jobs to demo GarageBand at the event “Back to the Mac”. A year later, he reappeared to show the first version of the iPad app.

In his last years at the company, Soren managed Apple’s family of professional applications, which comprises the names Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, Motion, Compressor and MainStage.

Last year, Soren gave an interview alongside Tom Boger (VP of Product Marketing for Mac and iPad) and Shelly Goldberg (Senior Director of Product Design for Mac and iPad) on the then-newly launched Mac Studio. In it, the executive highlighted the versatility and power of Apple’s desktop.
