Gansu Provincial Department of Water Resources organizes flood control and emergency rescue drills for Changma Shuangta Reservoir in 2022

News from this station On May 24, the Gansu Provincial Department of Water Resources organized the 2022 Changma Shuangta Reservoir flood control and emergency rescue drill. Deputy Director Niu Jun attended and directed the drill.

In strict accordance with the work requirements of the Ministry of Water Resources’ “Four Preliminaries” for flood and drought disaster prevention and the work arrangement of the province’s flood and drought disaster prevention exercise, the “2022 Changma Shuangta Reservoir Flood Control and Emergency Rescue Exercise Script” was compiled to simulate the Shule River. The continuous heavy rainfall in the upstream Qilian Mountains led to a major flood in the Shule River and the measured flow rate of the Changmabao Hydrological Station exceeded 1,000 cubic meters per second. The drill set up three drills: monitoring, forecasting, warning, consultation, joint operation of reservoirs, and emergency response to water engineering. In the section, a combination of desktop deduction and on-site practice is used to carry out the drill. After the drill, the participating units commented on the drill.

The drill started at 10:30 a.m. and ended at 11:40 a.m. on the 24th and lasted 70 minutes. Through the drill, all participating units and related business personnel were more familiar with the flood season dispatching plan and dispatching process of the Changma and Shuangta reservoirs, further improved the mechanism, trained the team, and comprehensively improved the comprehensive flood defense capability of the Changma Shuangta Reservoir .

The main venue of this exercise is located at the Flood and Drought Disaster Prevention Consultation Center of the Gansu Provincial Department of Water Resources. The relevant persons in charge of the Provincial Emergency Department and the Provincial Meteorological Service Center were invited to attend, and the persons in charge of the relevant departments of the department and the relevant units of the department attended; Lehe Center, Provincial Hydrological Station, Jiuquan Water Affairs Bureau and other places set up video link sub-venues and sites. A total of more than 260 people participated in this exercise.
