Gangseo-gu, Seoul (Chief Jin Kyo-hoon) announced on the 14th that starting from the 15th, it will provide support to victims of lease fraud with the costs of litigation for the return of lease deposits.
With the number of victims under the Special Act on Support for Victims of Jeonse Fraud recognized by the government reaching over 9,300, the district is expanding support projects to stabilize the housing of victims of Jeonse fraud.
The current rental fraud damage support project provides support only when the victim tenant moves, so the number of beneficiaries is limited and it is ineffective, leading to strong calls for improvement. In particular, it takes a lot of money and time for victims of jeonse fraud to recover their jeonse deposit, so there was a great need to prepare support measures.
Accordingly, the ‘Ordinance on Support for Victims of Jeonse Damage and Jeonse Fraud’ has been revised to reduce the costs (stamp and delivery fees, etc.) required for victims to recover deposits through various lawsuits such as auctions and public auctions, deposit payment orders, deposit return claims, etc. to 100 won per household from the 15th. We provide prompt support of 10,000 won each.
To this end, the district significantly increased the budget related to support for victims of rental fraud from 100 million won this year to 1.1 billion won next year.
Those eligible for support are residents who have suffered damage by renting a house in Gangseo-gu, victims of lease fraud determined by the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport in accordance with the Special Act on lease fraud, and those who have been issued a HUG lease damage certificate.
With the expansion of the rental fraud damage support project, victims can apply for and receive support from one of four support projects, including support for the existing rental deposit return guarantee fee, support for moving expenses for residents of emergency housing support housing, and support for litigation expenses along with the youth monthly rent support project. It came to be.
Applicants can apply by visiting the Gangseo-gu Rental Damage Support T/F Team or by accessing the Subsidy 24 website.
Damage support funds will be paid to an account in the applicant’s name within 7 days from the date of application/reception.
District Mayor Jin Kyo-hoon said, “At the report meeting on the results of the nation’s first full-scale survey of victims of rental fraud, we heard various voices of victims demanding supplementation of ineffective support measures,” adding, “Gangseo-gu’s administrative power, including support for litigation costs to recover rental deposits, “We will mobilize all of our resources to ensure housing stability and recovery for victims of rental fraud,” he said.
