“Gangnam Style” singer Psy with new album

Ten years following his surprise hit “Gangnam Style”, South Korean pop musician Psy has released his ninth album. The now 44-year-old rapper took five years to make his comeback with “Psy 9th”. His eighth album was released in 2017.

He took a long time for his new work, some of the accompanying videos for the tracks were produced two to three years ago, Psy said on Friday at a promotional event for the album in Seoul, according to the national news agency Yonhap. For the track “That That,” Psy collaborated with singer Suga from well-known South Korean boy band BTS.

Suga co-produced the play, Psy tweeted. Suga also sings in the song, which combines rap interludes with electronic dance beats. There is also a bizarre accompanying video in a western ambience with a dancing psy. In it he also hints at dance moves from his famous clip for “Gangnam Style”. The piece had motivated clubbers worldwide to cross their hands and hop up and down with their legs apart in the style of Psys. The official clip has become a YouTube hit with more than 4.4 billion clicks to date.

For his new album, Psy also collaborated with other South Korean pop music (K-pop) performers such as Sung Si Kyung, Heize, Crush, Tablo and Hwasa from the girl group Mamamoo.
