“Gang Zielonyj Glowiczki 2”: Kuta, Romantowska and Potocka in the sequel to the Netflix hit. How did it turn out this time?

After two years we return to the story of three modern “Robin Hoods” – Zuza (Magdalena Kuta), Alicja (Anna Romantowska) i Kindze (Margaret Potocka). In the first season, the ladies outsmarted the ruthless and unyielding Marzena (Beata Bandurska), escaped the police – the unyielding Gujska (Karolina Rzepa) and the investigator Alfred (Miroslaw Zbrojewicz) and finally, together with her friends, found shelter in the Bieszczady Mountains. After a few months of peace, Alice begins to be haunted by nightmares in which both she and her best friends end up behind bars.

To prevent this, the girls decide to disband the Green Glove Gang, but fate is fickle. It turns out that their loved ones may need help, and the heroines will have a chance for one last heist. And not just any heist – to get Tomek, Zuza’s son (Rafal Mackowiak) The gang must steal treasure from the National Gallery.

Zuza, Alicja and Kinga will be helped by old and new friends during the perfect jump – we will see them once more in the series Olgierd Łukaszewicz, Zdzisław WardejnMirosława Maludzińska and Tomira Kowalik. Enemies will also return – Kinga’s ex-husband, Igor (Andrew Grabowski) will certainly not let up on the girls, and Marzena has a score to settle with the Gang. Gujska and Alfred are still trying to get their hands on our heroines, and if that wasn’t enough… Krzysztof Masarz (Krzysztof Tyniec, who plays one of the most colorful supporting characters here) will cause quite a stir in the girls’ lives.

The second season of “The Green Glove Gang” needs some time to gain the charm that delighted viewers in the first season. I honestly have to admit that I had to get through the first two episodes, but somewhere in the middle of the third episode, all the elements that delighted me in the first series returned. Let’s agree – the series is best when all three – Kinga, Zuza, Alicja – are in the center of events.

It is for them and their wonderful energy that you watch this series. When they are plotting a heist, or when they start to quip (for various reasons), the dialogues and lines (especially those of Alice and Kinga) are better, and… the scenes are comedic. Unfortunately, the humor in the series is uneven – sometimes there is a great line (played and refined in the context of the characters or events), and sometimes the writers either overdo it or completely miss the mark.

Alfred’s storyline doesn’t work at the beginning either. It gets much better with each episode and he’s great to watch in a duet with Gujska, who is once more a workaholic dreaming of catching the Gang. Say what you want, but I love her. As for the new characters, she’s great to watch Krzysztof Tyniecwhich will be a problem for the girls, but fortunately will not be an unequivocal “evil”. In an interesting role, but in comparison to others a small role, he also appears Catherine Figure.

“Gang Zielonyj Glowiczki” once once more undoes stereotypes concerning age, making older women the main characters. Similarly to “Grace and Frankie” or “The Kominsky Method”, it puts experienced people in the center of attention, and in the case of the Polish series, it does it with an appropriate dose of nostalgia, which is achieved through the excellent use of older musical hits. And finally, we will also see a small nod to the series “Mothers, Wives and Lovers”, in which Małgorzata Potocka and Anna Romantowska starred together. If you liked the first season of “Gang…”, the second (not without its flaws) should also appeal to you.
