The police managed to identify who would be the leader of the group that committed the crime of the former Venezuelan military man, Ronald Ojeda, whose body was found last week in a shooting in Maipú.

This is Walter de Jesús Rodríguez Pérez, a Venezuelan citizen linked to the Aragua Train, a transnational criminal organization present in the country.

According to the background of the investigation to which DNA was able to access, the evidence that points to Rodríguez Pérez as the leader of the kidnapping is based on forensic and intelligence findings collected during the investigation, specifically, the identification of fingerprints on the vehicle used in the kidnapping and in two cell phones found on the Costanera Norte Highway, where the car was abandoned.

Likewise, the 28-year-old Venezuelan citizen, residing in the Metropolitan Region, has three current arrest warrants for two kidnappings and a robbery with intimidation, and is considered the main suspect and leader of the criminal group responsible for the kidnapping and murder of Ronald Ojeda.

In addition, the authorities have established the connection between Rodríguez Pérez and the criminal organization “Tren de Aragua”. In proceedings related to previous cases of kidnapping and robbery with intimidation, his participation in this transnational criminal gang of Venezuelan origin was evident.

Second involved

Likewise, the identification of another man linked to the case was achieved: Maickel Villegas Rodríguez. The key information to identify the subject of interest was obtained through the review of security cameras at a Copec service center, where the fuel load of a Chevrolet Sail vehicle was observed.

More specifically, it was found that Villegas Rodríguez had made his real RUT to obtain benefits from the purchase at the gas station. Meanwhile, it is suspected that both subjects, Walter de Jesús and Maickel, fled the country.
