An immersive 3D gaming experience without glasses thanks to Eye Tracking and View Mapping
Tunisia-Tribune (Gaming) – Samsung unveiled its latest gaming monitors at Gamescom 2024 in Cologne, with special attention paid to the innovative Odyssey 3D, a monitor that allows you to watch 3D without glasses.
Gamescom is being held this year from August 21st to 25th and is the world’s largest gaming trade show, with over 1,400 exhibitors of hardware, software and games. Samsung will be showcasing its high-end gaming monitors, including the new Odyssey 3D monitor as well as models from the Odyssey G6, G8 and G9 series. Samsung’s booth covers an impressive 800 m², making it the company’s largest booth ever.

Glasses-free 3D gaming with Odyssey 3D
The Odyssey 3D’s light field display (LFD) technology delivers realistic 3D images from 2D content. The lenticular lens[1] on the front panel, combined with Eye Tracking and View Mapping technology, enables a convincing 3D experience without the need for a pair of 3D glasses. Eye Tracking tracks eye movements via a built-in stereo camera and View Mapping continuously adjusts the image for better depth perception.
The Odyssey 3D can easily switch between 2D and 3D mode and is available in 27” and 37” sizes. The monitor offers 4K resolution, a fast 1ms GTG response time and a 165Hz refresh rate for smooth gameplay without stuttering or ghosting.
The monitor features an ergonomic design with a Height Adjustment Stand (HAS) that can tilt, FreeSync Premium, a DisplayPort 1.4 port, and two HDMI 2.1 ports. The monitor received the Best of Innovation award in the Gaming & eSports category at CES 2024.
Gaming experiences at Gamescom 2024
Through collaborations with renowned game developers, Samsung can offer Gamescom 2024 visitors an exclusive experience. In the Odyssey experience zone, visitors can experience the latest Odyssey gaming monitors, including the Odyssey OLED G8 with UHD resolution and 240 Hz refresh rate, the Odyssey OLED G6 with QHD resolution and 360 Hz refresh rate, and the 57″ dual UHD Odyssey Neo G9.

- Odyssey 3D :Visitors can explore KRAFTON’s inZOI in compelling 3D on the Odyssey 3D. InZOI is a life simulation game with realistic graphics, and this exclusive preview gives gamers a first look at the latest gaming technology. The Odyssey 3D’s fast response times and high refresh rates ensure non-stop action and immersive gameplay.
- Odyssey OLED G8:The Odyssey OLED G8’s rich colors and large screen elevate HoYoverse’s Genshin Impact to the next level. Dynamic visuals and smooth gameplay accelerate the action and enhance the story.
- Odyssey Neo G9 & OLED G9 :The ultra-wide displays and high resolution of the Odyssey Neo G9 and OLED G9 deliver an immersive experience in World of Warcraft: The War Within. Samsung Expands Its Popular Odyssey OLED Lineup with Three New Models: the Odyssey OLED G95SD, G93SD, and G85SD[2].
- The Odyssey OLED G9 series, including the G95SD and G93SD, features dual QHD (5120 x 1440) resolution, 32:9 ultra-wide screen, 1800R curved design, Smart Hub[3]Gaming Hub[4]a 240Hz refresh rate and a 0.03ms GTG response time.
- The 34″ Odyssey OLED G8 (model G85SD) features ultra-wide QHD (3440 x 1440) resolution, 21:9 screen ratio, 1800R curved design, Smart Hub, Gaming Hub[5]a refresh rate of 175 Hz and a GTG response time of 0.03 ms.
Samsung builds on success Odyssey OLED G6 and G8, presented in June latest with OLED monitors from 27” to 49”, including the new large screen models. Samsung is thus expanding its extensive OLED portfolio, giving gamers even more options.
The new Odyssey OLED models feature Samsung’s patented OLED Safeguard technology to prevent screen burn-in and OLED Glare Free technology to minimize light reflections. The Odyssey OLED G9 (model G95D) was named a CES Innovation Award Honoree in the Computer Peripherals & Accessories category at CES 2024.
Samsung has held the top spot in the global premium gaming monitor market for five consecutive years[6]. The company also ranked first in the first quarter of 2024, according to recent data from International Data Corporation (IDC). These figures show, for example, that Samsung acquired a global market share of 20.6% in the premium gaming monitor category and dominated the European gaming monitor market with a revenue share of 24.2%.
