Gaming center Space in Stockholm closes

The large gaming center Space in central Stockholm has today shut down much of the business. The write the organizers on its website.

SPACE will immediately close its gaming operations, while the conference and event operations will continue until June 30 2024, following which it will be fully phased. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and are ready to support you through this transition period.

The gaming section is closed, while the conference and event sections are open until June 30 this summer. This means that you can no longer go there and spontaneously LAN, but already booked events must be carried out as planned if they take place before the end of the year. For later bookings, you must speak to the people in charge.

The reason is not entirely unexpected difficulties in getting the economy going. They have tried but failed to adapt to economic changes, one writes.

Despite our efforts to adapt to changes in the economy, we have following careful considerations made the tough choice to close our doors from today. We cherish the experiences shared and thank our community for the incredible journey.

Space opened its doors as late as November 2021 in large premises right next to Sergel’s square in Stockholm. The ambition was to attract people to both gaming and conferencing, VR, dinners and hanging out at the bar. But it obviously became too difficult financially, and possibly the big changes in the economy in the last two years are a contributing factor.
