This evening is one of the great evenings of the summer: following the Summer Game Fest, it’s time for Gamescom 2023 which will open with a beautiful ceremony presented by (surprise) Geoff Keighley: a night full of announcements, trailers and highly anticipated games. Here is precisely what you should not miss!
It’s a little following 10 p.m. and Opening Night Live, the iconic gamescom ceremony, ended following a good two hours of live. An opening night hosted as usual by Geoff Keighley, presenter well known for being behind the Summer Game Fest and the Game Awards, who did not fail to demonstrate his enthusiasm for most of the games present. And God knows there were!
For once, the famous “World Premiere” were not commonplace since the conference was mainly focused on new trailers of games already announced, more or less large. The most striking and unprecedented sequence was undoubtedly that reserved for Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3, which gave us nine minutes of gameplay”’ from one of its single-player campaigns.
To stay in the big productions, we will highlight the explosive trailers of Tekken 8 (which has a release date, set for January 26, 2024), Mortal Kombat 1, Black Myth Wukong, Crimson Desert, Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Lords of the Fallen, Sonic Superstars,Alan Wake II ou encore Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty.
Starfield ”’was also in attendance, with Bethesda including guest composer Inon Zur to open the ceremony with a piano rendition of the main theme.
On the side of smaller but no less interesting games, we can cite Fort Solis (which managed to bring Troy Baker back on the scene), the two titles published by Quantic Dream Under The Waves et Dustborn or the sci-fi TPS The First Descendant”’.
On the announcement side, we were able to count on Little Nightmares III which will offer two-player cooperation or the archi-brutal FPS Killing Floor III or motorized adventure game Expeditionsfrom the Mudrunner saga.
