Gamescom 2022: the physical show is making a comeback and going green | XboxOne

The year 2022 should mark the return of many events. Among them, we will have the pleasure of finding the Gamescom which will take place in August, mixing digital and face-to-face. While there are obviously many details to communicate, here is the first information about Gamescom 2022.

Gamescom 2022 is back

Cologne will once again host Gamescom from August 24 to 28. If the event promises an extensive digital program, there will also be a physical fair. There will obviously be different stands, the possibility of meeting developers and several events and animations will be organized.

The Opening Night Live conference hosted by Geoff Keighley will of course be there and should be an opportunity to lift the veil on many games. It will be on Tuesday, August 23.

To ensure that things run smoothly, several measures have been taken. In particular, there will be improved management of entries, digital management of queues and even extra-wide aisles to limit contact.

A concept promoting health and safety has been tested and proven by Koelnmesse on numerous occasions and will be deployed for Gamescom 2022, always in harmony with all currently applicable regulations and at the same time guaranteeing safety and a high quality of stay.

Gamescom goes green

On the sidelines of the announcement of Gamesom 2022, we also learn that the show will be more respectful of the environment this year and will pay attention to its carbon footprint.

Félin Falk, Managing Director of the German Games Industry Association, is particularly proud to present the “Gamescom goes green” initiative:

With our “Gamescom goes green” initiative, we will make Gamescom a special and climate-friendly event with visitors and exhibitors. In this way, we want to be not only a beacon for the many initiatives in favor of environmental protection and climate action in the international games industry, but also a pioneer for international events in general.

Koelnmesse and the German Games Industry Association will offset their CO2 emissions through two certified carbon offset projects, in cooperation with ClimatePartner. Visitors can also contribute to this effort by making a donation or buying a “green” ticket, thus promoting the development of the “Gamescom forest” project, launched in 2020.

Remember that Gamescom will be, along with the Tokyo Game Show, one of the few events to welcome the public this year. The organizers of E3 have already announced that there will be no physical show in Los Angeles and everything suggests that the event is not not ready to resurface.

We hope to be entitled to some nice surprises in August and wish the organizers that things happen in the best possible conditions.
