The other day, NVIDIA announced that gamers began to spend more money on video cards. Many thought that this was due to the huge prices in stores and from speculators, which are much more than recommended. It turned out that NVIDIA had something else in mind and has now explained its statement to the PCWorld portal. In short: then gamers simply began to choose models of a higher class.
Recent statement representatives of NVIDIA sounded as follows: “According to our data, [геймеры, которые обновляют видеокарту] spend $300 more than they paid for their previous graphics card“. The company also noted on the slides that customers are paying an average of $300 more when switching to Ampere compared to previous upgrades to their gaming graphics cards.
The company has now clarified that this is regarding the fact that the players began to buy higher-end graphics cards, which, even in terms of the recommended price, are more expensive than their previous graphics accelerators. For example, if in 2016 a user bought a GeForce GTX 1070 video card with a recommended price of $400, then in 2021 he already chose the GeForce RTX 3080 model, the recommended price of which is just $700.
In reality, of course, he had to pay even more for a new video card – the same RTX 3080 is now selling for an average of $1250. This shows how much gaming hardware and especially video cards have risen in price in recent years. At this rate, PC gamers will really need to be renamed PC boyars.
