YouGov is an international polling and market research organization specializing in digital domains. YouGov became interested in the impact of the Activision-Blizzard takeover on player interest in the Game Pass service. The study first asks– Game Pass subscribers what Activision franchises would attract them to the service. The players are divided between British and American players.

Looking at these results, we realize that if the Call of Duty franchise was added to Game Pass, a significant number of new players might subscribe to the service. The study does not specify, however, whether those who answered “Call of Duty” were talking regarding the full franchise, or if the newest games would be enough for them. We also note the scores honorables de Warcraft, Crash Bandicoot et Spyro the Dragon which bring together 3% of players each, on both sides of the Atlantic.

The second part of the study is perhaps even more interesting. She shows us how takeover of Activision-Blizzard might attract players not necessarily accustomed to Microsoft services. Indeed, it gathers all the answers of the previous study, but the class by machines. Thus, we can see what percentage of players responded to be interested in one of the franchises in the survey, and which part replied that they would not subscribe to Game Pass for any of them. Again, the study only concerns players who are not currently Game Pass subscribers.

46% of PlayStation and Nintendo gamers in the United States would therefore be ready to subscribe to Game Pass, if at least one of the Activision-Blizzard franchises (which they are interested in) were added. Note that this number is a lot less important in the UK, which shows the presence and importance of Microsoft in the United States. We notice in passing that Xbox players not yet subscribed to Game Pass might also be tempted by the service if it included the Activision-Blizzard catalog.

Remember also that Phil Spencer had promised that Microsoft would add as many games as possible from the Activision-Blizzard catalog to Game Pass, once the acquisition has been completed. So we just have to wait for fans, and we’ll see if PlayStation and Nintendo gamers are all the more drawn to Game Pass at that point.
