Rumors accusing Sony of Callisto Protocol performance issues have been squashed by game director Glen Schofield. Hoping to clear up any confusion on the matter, he sent out a tweet stating that Sony only worked with Striking Distance Studios in terms of motion capture for the game and was not involved with “any additional work.”
How the rumors of Sony causing performance problems in The Callisto Protocol started
You can’t chase every rumor on the internet, but I have to get this one straight: there are Sony people in the credits because we work with them on performance capture for our cinematics. They did not do any additional work on the game. Hope this clears up any confusion.

The source of these rumors comes from multiple places. The first is that in the final credits of The Callisto Protocol, cataloged by Resetera, 150 Sony employees belonging to PlayStation Studios Visual Arts appear. Digital Foundry’s extensive technical analysis of the Callisto Protocol revealed that the PS5 version of the game performed better than the Xbox Series version and that the PC version had “incredibly severe” stuttering issues upon launch.
Put all this together, it might be easy for some to conclude that Sony had something to do with the glitches on the other non-PlayStation platforms.
The Callisto Protocol currently has a Metascore of 73 for the PC and PS5 versions of the game, and a lower Metascore of 69 for the Xbox Series X version.
The recent 1.006 update has fixed several game crash issues, and the developer promises to continue providing patches and hotfixes to fix performance issues. A free update is scheduled to be released within two months that will include hardcore mode and new plus game modes.
