The organizers of the Game Awards and its presenter Geoff Keighley have made a new decision for the 2023 edition of the event. The famous “World Premiere” will not take place, but the announcements will be there.
Announcements at the Game Awards, but without doing too much
It was in a question and answer session on Twitch that Geoff Keighley announced the news following a user asked him how many “World Premieres” were planned during the Game Awards 2023.
I don’t know, I didn’t count, honestly. I think pretty much the same thing as before, but I don’t know… Also, what is a World Premiere?
We often put up these displays, “world premiere, world premiere”… we’re kind of moving away from that this year, just because it’s all like, “Is this a first look?” “Is this an announcement?”. So we treat all of this as great gaming content.
Criticized for throwing out “World Premieres” for games that have already been seen several times, the Game Awards therefore seem to be evolving this year towards more sober announcements. Geoff Keighley then clarified that the content of the event and its duration would be quite similar to last year.
As a reminder, the Game Awards will take place on the night of December 7 to 8. As usual, the Xboxygen editorial team will be present to follow the event live with the continuous flow of news and the full summary at the end.
