New Delhi: India’s first ODI captain Venkatesh Iyer was a complete loser once morest South Africa. Despite playing in the first two matches, the Indian all-rounder was unable to make any impact in the match. He had earlier played in T20 matches for Team India. It was for the star to put out a remarkable performance in T20.

But former India captain Gautam Gambhir has criticized Venkatesh’s inclusion in the ODI team. Gambhir says Venkatesh does not have the maturity to play ODIs. “After playing in seven or eight IPL matches, he got a chance in the international arena. If IPL is the criterion for joining the team, consider him for the T20 team. Venkatesh is a player who should be considered only for the T20 team. Because he does not have the maturity to go beyond that. We need a completely different style in ODIs, ”said Gambhir.

“I think we should just play him in the T20s,” he said. If he is still being considered for the ODI team, ask his IPL team to play Venkatesh in the middle order. Venkatesh is currently the opener in the IPL. “I don’t understand how a player who plays as an opener in T20I can play in the middle order in ODIs,” Gambhir added.

Despite getting a chance in two matches in the ODI series once morest South Africa, he scored only 24 off 40 balls. He bowled five overs and conceded 28 runs but did not take a wicket. With Hardik Pandya out of the squad due to injury, Venkatesh has joined the team as a replacement for the star.
