Want to know more regarding each model? So join us for this quick hands-on.

design and accessories

Samsung continues to bet heavily on the design of its new tablets by delivering great aluminum construction and also IP68 certification to ensure water resistance.

In fact, this is the biggest news this year, since the IP68 certification has always been highly requested by fans of the Korean brand. For the most common use of tablets, which is multimedia consumption, Samsung delivers four renovated speakers to the Galaxy Tab S9.

The stereo sound is very powerful, there is good definition between bass and treble and this helps a lot to watch TudoCelular videos on YouTube or even a good movie or Drama on Netflix.

The three tablets also have another very important detail in common: a place on the back so you can attach your S Pen magnetically and recharge anywhere.

On the back there are also rows of antennas for 5G connectivity, something that is to be expected since we are talking regarding aluminum tablets. The camera is positioned in the upper corner and on the Tab S9 it is unique.

In the case of other models, you will find two rear cameras combined with an LED flash. The tablets also have a series of accessories and have a digital reader under the display, something that has changed compared to the previous generation.

Moving on to what comes in the box, Samsung sends the charger, a USB cable, manuals and, in the case of Brazil, we also have an S Pen and keyboard cover as a gift.

screen and hardware

Starting with the Galaxy Tab S9, this model received a good improvement when it comes to its screen, since the LCD panel of the last generation now gives way to an 11-inch 2X Dynamic AMOLED screen with 2K resolution.

As with other devices, the Tab S9 has a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. An interesting detail of this device is that the use of an AMOLED screen also made Samsung reduce its thickness to just 5.9 millimeters.

In the case of the Galaxy Tab S9 Plus, we have a 12.4-inch AMOLED panel that approaches 3K resolution, and in the case of the Ultra model, this reaches 14.6 inches with practically 3K resolution.

An interesting point is that this tablet is only 5.5 millimeters thick and its weight is 700 grams. It’s a pretty heavy product when compared to its brothers of approximately 500 grams, but the size and thickness end up helping the experience and you shouldn’t even notice that the Tab S9 Ultra weighs more.

Samsung this year left aside the Exynos chipset and integrated the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy chipset into the Galaxy Tab S9 line. That is, the most powerful version of Qualcomm’s processor.

It works in tandem with 8GB or 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of internal storage. This set, combined with One UI 5.1.1 delivers great performance not only in games, but also in productivity.

In the field of autonomy, the Galaxy Tab S9 has a battery of 8,400 mAh, the Tab S9 Plus reaches 10,090 mAh and the S9 Ultra goes to 11,200 mAh. That is, values close to those found in the previous generation.

Software

All tablets come out of the box with Android 13 running under the new One UI 5.1.1 interface. According to Samsung, this updated version delivers improvements for use in multitasking, Flex Mode, optimized layout for Samsung Health, Gallery and Camera applications for tablets.

An important highlight in the case of tablets is that you can connect a USB-C cable to a monitor to use the DeX mode desktop interface. This, when connected to a mouse and keyboard, gives you a PC experience.

That is, Samsung continues to bet heavily on the ideal solution for those who like tablets for productivity.

Furthermore, Samsung’s interface is already more than well known and the company has delivered good support for tablets. That is, a software policy similar to what we find in high-end cell phones.

Cmeras

In the set of cameras, starting with the Tab S9, it has a single rear camera of 13 MP. On the other hand, the Plus and Ultra models keep this sensor and add another 8 MP ultrawide.

The front of all is a 12 MP wide lens, but in the case of the Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra we have a secondary ultrawide lens of 12 MP.

In general terms, the Korean promise is that you will get images as good as those captured by the Galaxy S23 or the Z Fold 5 foldable. This is something that we will find out if it is true in our tests in the real world.

First impressions and prices

Officially announced in Brazil along with the rest of the world, the new Galaxy Tab S9, S9 Plus and S9 Ultra are already available for pre-order on Samsung’s official website.

The company is also running that promotion where you pay the initial price but take home twice as much storage. With that, the Galaxy Tab S9 with 256 GB costs BRL 6,750.

The S9 Plus with 512 GB is sold for BRL 8,550 and the S9 Ultra with 512 GB is sold for BRL 10,350.

It is clear that the new tablets are expensive for the common Brazilian budget and this is the result of the category in which they are inserted and the rise in global prices.

Still, these tablets deliver what’s best in the Android universe. That’s because we have here a quality Samsung standard display, Qualcomm’s most powerful chipset and well-optimized software.

Not to mention the focus on productivity with S Pen and keyboard, plus DeX mode. Of course, the trend is for prices to fall over the next few months and this can make these tablets more attractive for those on a budget.
