Update (08/26/2023) – PF

Expected to officially reach consumers in mid-January next year, the Galaxy S24 Ultra has been the victim of several rumors over the last few weeks, and one of the biggest is about its screen.

According to leaks, the next generation of Samsung’s flagship should leave aside its famous screen with rounded edges, adopting a straight, “flat” design; coming in line with what we currently see in the Galaxy S23 and S23 Plus.

For those who are curious about how the device’s design will look, new renders of the front of the device from the famous leaker Ice Universe can solve all this curiosity. Check out:

Dividing opinions between those who prefer curved edges and those who like straighter corners, if confirmed, the new front design of the device would surprise the most unsuspecting consumers – as Samsung has been adopting screens with rounded sides for the Ultra line for a long time. .

Although this is not an official render and the design has not yet been confirmed, some say that the straight corners bring more proportional measurements and a better overall appearance for the device.

In any case, the Galaxy S24 Ultra should bring all the best that Samsung has to offer its customers. In addition to the new design, the display should still bring more brightness and a refresh rate of 144Hz.

The S24 Ultra, as well as the other new smartphones in the S line, should be presented in the first quarter of 2024.

Update (08/23/2023) – FM

No curved screen? Galaxy S24 Ultra may have new 144 Hz OLED display with brightness above 2,200 nits

A Samsung appears to be testing different screen configurations for the Galaxy S24 Ultra, its future top-of-the-line cell phone that will have the mission to continue the success of the Galaxy S23 Ultra. This Wednesday (23), a new leak indicated that the model will have a significant improvement in its maximum brightness, potentially surpassing the iPhone 14 Pro.

According to a publication by the leaker @hyacokr_itnyang on X (formerly known as Twitter), the Galaxy S24 Ultra can be equipped with a display that reaches peak brightness of 2,200 nits. Ice Universeanother famous cell phone industry insider, responded to the comment stating that the cell phone screen will be even brighter.

The leaker claims to have a prototype of the device that supports peak brightness of 2,800 nits, which would be a record for the industry. With this brightness, the Galaxy S24 Ultra could boast an even more readable screen under exposure to sunlight. To compare, the Galaxy S23 Ultra has a display with a peak brightness of 1,750 nits.

There are limitations that could prevent such an extreme level of brightness on cell phones, and one of them is the risk of overheating. Screens need a lot of power to have enough brightness and be readable in environments with strong lighting — such as sunlight. Furthermore, excessive consumption could be a disadvantage.

It is speculated that the Galaxy S24 Ultra will use a new OLED panel called “M13”, which would reach the highest brightness peaks. Previous leaks suggest that Samsung will raise the refresh rate to 144 Hz — something few users would notice the difference in, since the increase is minimal compared to the Galaxy S23 Ultra’s 120 Hz screen.

Other information revealed by @hyacokr_itnyang points out that the Galaxy S24 Ultra will have uniform edgeswhich reinforces speculation that Samsung will stop using a curved screen in the model and will start adopting a flat glass that would guarantee more resistance against damage, but at the cost of thicker edges on the sides.

The Galaxy S24 Ultra should be presented in the first quarter of 2024.

Update (08/16/2023) – MR

Galaxy S24 Ultra could feature a superior OLED display with 144 Hz and lose a curved screen

According to the informant, Samsung will equip the Galaxy S24 Ultra with the 200-megapixel sensor and the 12-megapixel ultra-wide of its predecessor, but will bring a new 50-megapixel telephoto sensor with 3x optical zoom and better images at zoom. 5x, reinforcing the Ice Universe leak.

The 10 megapixel periscope sensor and the 12 megapixel front sensor should be similar to those of the Galaxy S23 Ultra. Basically, the Galaxy S24 Ultra should have identical camera specifications to its predecessor, except for the telephoto lens.

The informant also mentions that Samsung will launch the cell phone with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 platform and Exynos 2400 in selected markets. Apparently, the European market would stick with Exynos to reduce costs.

The Galaxy S24 Ultra’s display should be a 6.8-inch AMOLED with QuadHD+ resolution, but it could bring something new: support for a 144 Hz refresh rate. As is tradition, the device will come with the S Pen.

Lastly, the flagship would feature a 5,000 mAh battery unit with support for 45W charging. According to Dekra certification, Samsung will equip the Galaxy S24 Ultra with a nominal capacity of 4,855 mAh, but should announce the device with 5,100 mAh.

Update (08/14/2023) – MR

After Samsung presented the foldable Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5, the South Korean company began to turn its efforts to the Galaxy S24 line, which should hit the market in February next year.

According to informant Ice Universe (@UniverseIce), the Galaxy S24 Ultra will feature a superior display. Although he doesn’t specify, he could be referring to the M13 OLED panel with higher brightness.

Even with the Galaxy S23 Ultra reaching a maximum brightness of 1,750 nits, rival devices from Apple, OPPO and Xiaomi can reach 2,000 nits. This would be an interesting area for Samsung to bring improvements.

Many cell phone manufacturers use QuadHD+ resolution for their more expensive devices, with color fidelity and refresh rates reaching higher levels where improvements can be difficult to notice. Therefore, a higher brightness on the screen becomes more obvious when using the cell phone outdoors during the day.

Previously, other rumors cited that the Galaxy S24 Ultra should feature titanium construction, 50 megapixel telephoto sensor with 3x optical zoom and more powerful processor. In design, it could lose the curved screen.

The Galaxy S24 line should feature Samsung’s thirteenth generation of AMOLED panels, titled M13. The display is thinner, has superior energy efficiency and superior image quality.

Update (08/11/2023) – by DT

The line Samsung Galaxy S24 It should only be officially presented to the public in January 2023, but rumors about the models continue to pop up on the internet. This Friday (11), new supposed details of the Ultra version of the series were released.

The leaker Ice Universe, well known in the Samsung for his leaks, he published on his Twitter profile the supposed measures of the Galaxy S24 Ultrawhich were 162.3 mm high and 79 mm wide for the brand’s top-of-the-line cell phone.

It is worth noting that the width of the S23 Ultra it is 78.1 mm, that is, if this information from the leaker is correct, the S24 Ultra will increase 0.9 mm on the sides. Therefore, the device’s screen may feel a little narrower.

This narrowing could result in the successor to the Galaxy Note line having its curved screen removed, as speculated by Ice Universe. In any case, Samsung does not comment on rumors and we will have to wait for more details in the future.

It is worth remembering that at the end of last month, the same Ice Universe announced that o Galaxy S24 Ultra could be launched with a reinforced titanium construction. However, there are chances that the manufacturer will maintain aluminum and leave titanium for the line Galaxy S25.

Original text (07/31/2023)

In a post shared last weekend, well-known leaker Ice Universe published an image of the periodic table indicating an element and citing that it may be present in the Galaxy S24 line.

According to the leaker, Samsung should follow the example of other manufacturers and use titanium to build your next high-end smartphone as a way to make it more resistant.

As titanium is considered an expensive element, it will most likely be restricted to the Galaxy S24 Ultra, something that should cause other smartphones in the range to continue using aluminum.

As much as it may be something new in Samsung’s smartphone line, rumors indicate that Apple is also planning to launch the iPhone 15 Pro Max using the same element in its construction.

Stainless steel is considered stronger than aluminum, but it is very heavy. Therefore, the use of titanium becomes much more interesting for manufacturers, as it has the strength of steel and is lighter.

As expected, Samsung did not officially comment on the matter. With this, we emphasize that everything must remain in the field of rumors.

This is because there is a chance that the Korean manufacturer will maintain aluminum in the current generation and leave titanium for the Galaxy S25 line.
