Samsung has promised a superior level of durability for its new top-of-the-line phones. After showing the disadvantages of the curved screen of the Galaxy S23 Ultra, a video published by the channel PBKreviews on YouTube evaluates the resistance of the Galaxy S23 Plus, the “middle brother” of the line represented by the Galaxy S23.
Its new resistant glass technology produced by Corning, called Gorilla Glass Victus 2, did a good job of preventing damage caused by keys or coins — simulating the act of putting your cell phone in your pocket — but it did not prevent the Galaxy S23 Plus from staying with the screen cracked on one of the edges when dropped from a medium height. Check it out in the video below:
On the other hand, it is worth remembering that the crack from the first drop is much smaller than that observed on the Galaxy S23 Ultra, which had its panel destroyed in the same test. The reason why this difference occurs may be the type of glass used in each of the devices: flat screen in the cheapest model; curved screen on the more expensive model.
In a second stage of the test with the rear facing the ground, the flat design once more showed advantages with the Galaxy S23 Plus, which showed less damage to its glass cover than the Galaxy S23 Ultra. Finally, when falling with the side edges facing down, the model had slight wear.
whereas the cell phone did not have its functioning impaired following ending the tests with cracked glass and damaged sides, the tester evaluated that the new model does a good job to guarantee good resistance, but reiterates that “ordinary glass always breaks”.
The Galaxy S23 Plus is available for pre-order on Samsung’s official website for BRL 6,999 in a promotional launch condition that allows you to purchase the 512 GB version for the price of the 256 GB variant. The model is equipped with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, AMOLED screen with adaptive refresh rate of up to 120 Hz and 4,700 mAh battery.
