Galaxy S22 series sales fall, Korean telecom operators push discounts to save lives-ePrice.HK

According to a report by the Korean media “The Korea Times”, the local sales of the Galaxy S22 series have declined significantly due to the scandal of the GOS function’s intervention effectiveness. As Samsung’s main partners, the two major telecommunications providers, KT and LG Uplus, have to save their lives. It has to attract consumers by greatly increasing the discount.

To entice consumers to buy the Galaxy S22 or Galaxy S22+, KT and LG Uplus have increased the subsidy amount to 500,000 won (equivalent to HK$3,228), the same amount previously offered to Galaxy S22 Ultra buyers. In response to media inquiries, a Samsung spokesperson admitted that the increase in the subsidy amount was a joint decision they made following communicating with telecom operators. Samsung said that the current mobile phone market environment is quite severe, so the subsidy will be increased from April. At the beginning of the launch of the Galaxy S22 series, the discount offered by telecom operators was only 150,000 won (regarding HK$968).

The telecommunications provider subsidies mentioned above are generally rebates to customers who sign up for the show in installments. Overall, the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22+ have been reduced by nearly HK$2,300. Not long following the release of the Galaxy S22 series, some netizens found that the GOS function slowed down the performance of more than 10,000 programs. Although Samsung later apologized and released a correction file, the enthusiasm of Korean consumers for the new phone has been greatly cooled.
