The Galaxy A14 is Samsung’s new bet for those looking for a low-cost 5G cell phone. It hit the national market costing BRL 1,800, but a few weeks following its debut it already appears in offers for almost half the price. Does that make it the best buy of the moment?
The design has evolved to be in line with what we have on Samsung’s more expensive models. The photographic set has been reduced to just three cameras and we have rims that stand out at the rear. This is very reminiscent of the S23 line, but here the finish is textured matte and made entirely of plastic.
The 6.6-inch screen with a 90 Hz PLS LCD panel guarantees good fluidity, while the maximum brightness level is not the best in the category, but is above what is seen in basic cell phones from Motorola and Xiaomi. The sound part might be better if it had stereo audio, as well as the unexciting quality.
The Galaxy A14 5G hit the national market with Exynos 1330, but it can also be found in other markets with Dimensity 700. It comes with 4 GB of RAM and that amount of memory is not enough to keep many apps open at the same time and the A14 5G doesn’t excite multitaskers. At least it goes well in games, even the most demanding ones.
The 5,000 mAh battery yielded more than 25 hours in our standardized test, which ensures that Samsung’s basics can last all day away from plugs. The recharge time is not the most agile because of the 15W charger that comes in the box and it takes two hours to have a full battery.
The photographic set consists of a 50 MP camera, in addition to two dedicated 2 MP cameras for macros and depth. The main one records great photos for a cell phone at its current price and is well above what we see in rivals. The front also makes good selfies, while the macros and background blur are only decent.
